Drones 04:55
Hear the thunder coming down, coming down The snow falling on the ground, on the ground The Earth shaking, hear the roar, hear the roar Open the door, let's go out, let's go out Leaving yourself behind is so easy, easy Never wanting to die is so easy I can never see the light, see the light I just want to disappear, disappear Thinking of the time that will never come Don't you want to live again Don't you want to live again Most of it is gone, all is said and done I just want to live again I just want to live again Leaving yourself behind is so easy, easy Never wanting to die is so easy

Wedding song 04:46
If you want to be my man Promise you will love me til the end Yeah you know what I mean To forget the things you've done Doesn't help to know what you've become Yeah you know what I mean It's all gone Long long long gone All your friends have disappeared Everybody's gone but you've got me Yeah you know what I mean After all your flesh is gone You will realise that I'm the one Yeah you know what I mean It's all gone Long long long gone
3.
New Lover 03:21
Heard you've got a new lover Just another til the end of time But until it's all over We should ponder if it's all worthwhile You come home to another He was closer than we can aspire He pretends he's not bothered But I know him, it's all but an act I don't think you'll understand They say true love has no end All the other men pretend Like all humans tend to fail To prevent what happens next We should try to speak at least Crashing down like burning planes Wish he'd taken me as well Watching birds fly on their own No direction to be known
4.
Hungry smile 05:38
You don't know the words, I can't find the terms On and on, alone Give me one more chance, I can make amends On and on, alone Listen to your heart, we're not good apart On and on, alone This is really strange, this is my revenge On and on, alone With my hungry smile I can make you mine On and on, alone Let's kiss and make up, rub ourselves in lust On and on, alone One more time to go, then I'll end the show On and on, alone Something tells me that your loss is a fact On and on, alone Here I stand, You never noticed My hungry smile My hungry smile My hungry smile My hungry smile
5.
The beast 05:55
You are what you want to be Feel the thunder, feel the thunder Being true keeps us moving Side by side, side by side Won’t you let me figure out What we're doing, what we're doing I don’t want to be alone But I do, but I do When I was a little boy I was happy, I was happy Now I spend my days Drinking alcohol, drinking alcohol I can’t really figure out What we're doing, what we're doing If a heart is broken Does it beat as one, does it beat as one

[ENG] After a four year hiatus that took Big Summer’s frontman (and only man) Vasco Batista away from his Barcelona home, around the Bay of Biscay and all the way up to Hackney, London, the man is back with the 5-song EP “Dead Royalty”. From the very start, we see the title has been inspired by Vasco’s changed surroundings - palaces, royal gardens and seeing the Queen’s face everywhere. But does 'royalty' refer to dead kings and queens or in this case - more harshly - to hopes and dreams?

Keeping in line with Big Summer's previous release ‘Trigger', one can see the departure from a previous summery feel-good vibe into much darker territories, perhaps reflecting Vasco’s journey from sunny Barcelona to grey and gloomy London. The songs are dark even when fast paced, and tell us stories about love, heartbreak and the end of the world - nothing new if you’re a Big Summer fan. But although the lyrics keep us tied to that Big Summer feel we have grown to expect over the past few years, musically the band has shifted and evolved into a more refined sound with strong song structures. Totally worth a listen.
